Not one step of the way!

Our blind faith, unyielding belief, determination and the sheer willingness to go where most wouldn’t dare. To really get going when most give up! Do you ever look back on the year and assess how you did?

Do you monitor your progression, or lack of? Do you ever ask yourself “Why am I not moving forward? Why am I not getting results while others around me are?”

Are you curious as to why some people achieve results, while others just never seem to get traction or get going?

I often hear people say, next year is the year it is all going to happen for me. I have been trying for 2 or 3 years now, so next year must be the year it all comes together.

Our limiting beliefs about challenging situations often drive us to a place of fear, frozen with indecision and inaction. The result – nothing changes.

My favourite all time quote is :

Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so you can spend the rest of your life living like most people can’t!”

Here is my take on your journey to success!

Ask yourself these questions (and be brutally honest or your answers will be meaningless)

1. Do you really know what you want out of life?
2. If you do, what are truly prepared to sacrifice to get what you want? I can tell you whole heartedly ( and I know I speak on behalf of every successful entrepreneur in the world) – no rewards come without some form of sacrifice. The treasures in life goes to those who are prepared to dig for them, not to those who simply wish for them.
3. What are my negative or limiting factors holding me back?
4. Are genuinely prepared to take a step of courage forward and go where you have never gone before?
   

When I have moments of doubt (which can be overwhelming, especially when you are trying so hard but seeing very little reward); remember this as it certainly helps me! If you are on the right path, you will feel connected to the source! And your pathway will automatically unfold!

Remember to keep focused on the bigger picture; do not get caught in the minor twigs that trap you from moving forward. Wherever you shine your torch light, is where you will focus. You can choose whether you want to focus on the pain or the reward, the sacrifice or the trophy. Remember – it is your choice!

1. Set Realistic, Achievable goals. Write them down right now (Here’s a great test to assess how serious are you about achieving success! Take action now, why delay success!)
2. Write down action steps with timelines on how you will achieve each goal
3. Don’t extend your timelines. Make this non-negotiable. You must do whatever it takes to achieve your timelines.
4. Daydreaming about success is NOT ever going to give you results – Action is.
5. Justify WHY you can, not why you can’t
6. Your FOCUS = Your Reality. Develop a Laser Focus to keep you on track

Hello and Welcome to Business Success Tip # 6!

Lets get started – at the very beginning. Seems logical but for many people in business, they don’t start at the beginning. They start somewhere down the road, assuming their idea they came up with is just going to work out. They believe all they have to do is just run a business now, based on their idea.

Some businesses run for 15 years but the owners never really, ever got started. They remain self employed and hover just off broke for most of their business careers. There are many contributing reasons for this. Today’s topic is one of the major instigators for this common flaw that results in businesses running at low profits and low cashflow, year after year.

Do you have the correct skills to make your business profitable? More importantly, what skills sets are you missing that your business requires to be profitable and successful.

“So many businesses fail, not because the idea is flawed but because the knowledge to build a business does not exist. You need knowledge to ensure your ability matches your ambition” – luke

Think of this like driving your car. It needs fuel, a steering wheel, 4 wheels, a healthy engine etc. If there are parts or “gaps” are missing , you are hindering your journey!

1. Make a list of your skills (or your strengths) (Eg: customer care, admin, negotiation, organising, team motivation, delegation etc)
2. Next to your skill set list, make a list of all the skills required to make your business work profitably (Eg: Sales acquisition, marketing online, growth strategies, leverage infrastructure etc)
3. Hi light in the same colour the skills that match on the two lists. What you are left with is your “gaps”. These gaps are key indicators to underlying, everyday problems in your business.
4. Plug these gaps so you can truly give your business a profit boost and prevent it from limping, year after year!

To get results in life, we have to first leave our nest. When a chick hatches from its egg, it is welcomed into the world by with the warmth and security of its nest. Its mother brings it worms at feeding time and keeps it warm at night or when it’s cold. This incubation period continues until the chick must leave the nest. The chick leaves the nest in 2 ways. It either leaves on its own accord or it gets kicked out by its mother.

Fair or unfair? It doesn’t matter. This is how birds learn to fly. This is how they progress in the stages of their lives. If a bird never jumps out of its nest, it can never learn to fly. It has to take that leap to progress.

Now, many business people remain stuck in the comfort and security of their nests, despite being in business for several years. These people never get past a certain point in their lives or businesses, yet they feel as though they are consistently trying and are making sincere efforts.

So what is actually happening here ?

These “efforts of trying” are the shifting from the centre of their nests to its edge. These business people believe they are making progress and are happy to continue “trying” as long as they remain within the zone of security and comfort of their nests.

But what happens when they approach the edge of the nest? The down feathers get thinner, the nest gets colder, twigs become more abrasive and the journey starts to get a little tougher and uncomfortable.

And then they reach the edge! And as they peek over the edge, they reach a defining point in their path. They reach a defining point in their lives! Here lies the critical point at which they decide who they really are? Do they see the view from the edge as a brand new world of excitement and opportunity or do they view it as a terrifying plunge into the darkness of uncertainty?

It is these differing views that determines progression or stagnation. It is this choice of what to do at the edge that determines the winners or losers and separates achievers from dreamers. Those that take the plunge have the opportunity to soar to new heights and reach their dreams. Those that choose to run back to the centre of the nest shall never witness progression.

So, next time you question “Why am I not moving forward”; ask yourself “Do I keep running back to the centre of my nest. Is it perhaps time I learnt how to fly?”

Is your safety bridge actually too safe? Instead of protecting you, maybe it is preventing you.
